Global Aerospace Leader Indra Group Chooses Kansas for New Radar Manufacturing Facility

Team Kansas celebrates Indra Group’s nearly $7.5 million investment in Olathe

Kansas is adding another global aerospace and technology leader to its growing roster of companies investing in the Sunflower State.

Indra Group, a global leader in air traffic management and mobility technology, has selected Olathe for its newest U.S. facility. The company will invest nearly $7.5 million in a 25,000-square-foot facility at the Great Plains Commerce Center, where it will manufacture next-generation air traffic surveillance radars.

The investment is supporting the creation of more than 140 skilled U.S. jobs across engineering, manufacturing, integration, deployment, and system support functions.

For Kansas, the announcement builds on generations of leadership in aviation and aerospace manufacturing while expanding the state’s role in the technology and infrastructure that keep aircraft moving safely across the country.

Kansas Connections with Global Reach

Indra Group’s decision also highlights the value of building long-term relationships with companies and industry leaders around the world.

Kansas leaders engaged with Indra Group through multiple international visits, including a November 2024 visit to the company’s Madrid headquarters by Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland. Members of Kansas’ congressional and state delegations visited in June 2025, followed by Governor Laura Kelly’s visit to Spain and Indra Group’s radar production facility in October 2025.

Those connections helped introduce Indra Group to the workforce, location, and aerospace capabilities Kansas brings to the table.

The company has also been awarded a $342 million Federal Aviation Administration contract supporting modernization of the National Airspace System. The new Kansas facility will accommodate another FAA contract valued at $244.3 million to replace analog enroute radios with digital, VoIP-capable equipment.

Another Addition to Kansas’ Aerospace Story

Kansas has been building aircraft, aerospace technology, and the skilled workforce behind them for generations. Indra Group’s investment adds another dimension to that ecosystem, bringing advanced radar manufacturing and air traffic technology to Olathe.

At Team Kansas, we celebrate investments like this alongside the companies, communities, economic development professionals, and state leaders working to keep Kansas competitive.

Every new facility provides another opportunity to tell the world what Kansas has to offer: skilled people, strong industry partnerships, a central location, and an established aerospace ecosystem capable of supporting companies working at the leading edge of aviation technology.

Congratulations to Indra Group, the City of Olathe, the Kansas Department of Commerce, and everyone involved in bringing this investment to Kansas.

It’s a great time to be on Team Kansas.
