Team Kansas celebrates Merck’s $895M expansion in De Soto
Kansas continues to break records — and today’s announcement is another proud moment in our state’s long-standing leadership in animal health. Merck Animal Health has announced a transformative $895 million expansion of its De Soto facility, marking the second largest private investment in Kansas history.
This major capital project will add over 200 new high-paying jobs and create 2,500 construction jobs during the development of a new 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. As part of the Animal Health Corridor, De Soto is uniquely positioned for this kind of investment — and Kansas continues to show the world why it’s the right place for innovation, research, and advanced manufacturing.
From Merck’s expanded manufacturing capabilities to the $35 million investment in research and development, this announcement reflects a future-forward approach that will benefit not only Kansas but the global animal health industry.
The facility will become a Center of Excellence, enhancing our region’s role as a national hub for biotech, agtech, and veterinary innovation.
